'Anonymous' warns of World War III in 2017-18 over Korean Peninsula crisis

New Delhi: 'Anonymous' - the worldwide group of Internet activists or 'hackstivists' – has predicted World War III in 2017 or 2018.

The video by Anonymous features a person in the hacktivist group's trademark Guy Fawkes mask can be heard explaining how the tensions brewing in the Korean Peninsula can result in a full-blown war involving, North Korea, China, US, Japan and South Korea.

"All the signs of a looming war on the Korean Peninsula are surfacing, watching as each country moves strategic pieces into place," the unidentified figure said. "But unlike past world wars, although there will be ground troops, the battle is likely to be fierce, brutal and quick. It will also be globally devastating, both on environmental and economic levels," a hooded figure in black said in the six-minute-and-forty-five-second clip.

The US and South Korea have just concluded two-month-long joint military drills involving 300,000 troops.

The US has also sent its aircraft carrier task group USS Carl Vinson and a nuclear submarine to waters off the Korean peninsula, besides carrying out nuclear bomb dropping drills in South Korea and test launching two intercontinental ballistic missile within one week.
