The moment your phone hits water, retrieve it immediately. The longer it stays submerged, the greater the risk of water damage.
Turn your phone off immediately. This helps prevent electrical shorts and further damage to internal components.
Take off any protective case or cover attached to your phone to allow for better airflow during drying.
If possible, open the back and remove the battery, SIM card, and microSD card. Refer to manufacturer guides if needed.
Use a soft cloth or paper towel to gently dab your phone dry. Avoid rubbing, as it may push water into sensitive areas. Consider using a vacuum cleaner on low suction around creases and openings.
Don't be tempted to speed up the drying process by using heat sources like hairdryers or direct sunlight. Keep your phone in a cool, dry place instead.
While it's a common suggestion, rice can be ineffective. Instead, opt for silica gel packets, which are more absorbent. Place your phone in a sealed bag with silica gel packets for 24-48 hours.
After allowing your phone to dry completely, turn it on. If it doesn't power up immediately, try charging it fully before attempting to switch it on again.
