Amla, widely used for making pickles, juice, and candy, is packed with Vitamin C and offers numerous health benefits. Growing an amla plant at home is easier than you might think! Here’s a step-by-step guide to cultivating an amla plant in a pot.

Get an Amla Plant:

Start by purchasing an amla plant from a nearby nursery. While you can grow it from seeds, buying a young plant will speed up the process since it takes a long time for seed-grown plants to bear fruit.

Prepare the Potting Soil:

Choose a large pot and fill it with a mix of black soil, sand, and organic manure (cow dung fertilizer). This blend provides the ideal nutrient-rich base for the plant.

Place in Sunlight and Water Regularly:

Once the amla plant is potted, place it in a sunny spot where it will receive plenty of light. Water the plant daily, ensuring the soil stays moist but not overly soaked.

Add Organic Fertilizer:

Every 15 days, enrich the plant with organic fertilizer to support healthy growth. If you notice pests, spray the plant with neem oil to keep it safe.

Patience is Key:

It usually takes around 5 to 7 years for an amla plant to produce fruit, so proper care and patience are essential.

With regular care, you can enjoy the benefits of fresh, home-grown amla right from your garden!
