Rampur: A court has ordered the police to register an FIR against 26 people for allegedly assaulting and forcing a man to drink urine after accusing him of molesting a woman in Laskar Ganj village here last month.
The victim, Kadde Ram Singh, in his plea had alleged that he was forced to drink urine of the villagers after they accused him of molestation on September 14.
He alleged that the villagers, including women, beat him using brooms and sticks and blackened his face after garlanding him with shoes.
They paraded him on the streets of the village and he begged the crowd to let him off, but his plea fell on deaf ears, Singh alleged.
He alleged that when his relatives attempted to free him, they too were assaulted and tortured for about two hours.
He was then taken to a hospital and the police were informed but, Singh alleged, they refused to register a complaint.
Singh then approached the court following which Judicial Magistrate Tarkeshwari Singh yesterday ordered the police to register an FIR against the 26 people.
