Chandigarh: A Chandigarh student has falsely claimed to have been hired by Internet giant Google at a whopping annual salary of Rs 1.44 crore.
The story of Harshit Sharma, a 16-year-old boy who completed Class 12 from the Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS), Sector 33, in 2017, grabbed headlines after he clamed to have landed a high-paying job with Google.
Sharma had claimed that he would soon be joining the graphic designing team of the company and would leave for the US in August.
The 16-year-old had reportedly said that the job with Google was a “dream come true” and his hard work had paid off.
During the one-year training period, the 16-year-old will receive a stipend of Rs 4 lakh per month. Afterwards, he will receive a remuneration of Rs 12 lakh per month, Hindustan Times had earlier reported.
The global internet giant, however, issued a clarification later, saying that it has no record about the 16-year-old boy.
“Currently, we don’t have any information on our records with respect to Harshit Sharma’s candidacy,” the search engine giant was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.com.
Harshit, hailing from Mathana in Kurukshetra, Haryana, had chosen information technology in Class 12.
“I kept searching for jobs online,” HT had quoted Harshit as saying. “I applied for this job in May and was interviewed online. I have been interested in graphic designing for the past 10 years. I was selected on the basis of the posters I designed.”
Harshit’s parents are teachers.
