Mumbai: One of Indian TV’s most popular TV shows - Sasural Simar Ka – will now have a new leading lady. Dipika Kakar, who had been essaying the lead role of Simar for the last six years, has now been replaced by Keerti Gaekwad Kelkar.
Keerti, wife of actor Sharad Kelkar, will be returning to TV after a hiatus of seven years.
"Television has changed so much over the past few years; there are many new concepts and formats. Even the viewers are open to storylines and narratives that were unfathomable earlier," Keerti, who was last seen in TV show ‘Keerti’, said in a statement.
"There have been so many sides to Simar's character -- be it her strong personality, her endurance in fighting for her family's happiness, or her determination in keeping them safe. I am eager to partake in this new journey to further my skills as an actor," added the actress.
Interestingly, Dipika quit the show to prepare for her wedding ceremony. She is all set to marry her ‘Sasural Simar Ka’ co-star Shoaib Ibrahim, who had earlier essayed the male lead character of Prem in the show. He quit soon after the show turned out to be a success and was replaced by Dheeraj Dhoopar.
