HYDERABAD: Tragedy struck at a Hyderabad playschool on Children's Day, when a three-year-old boy died after falling in an open water sump inside the premises.
Shiv Rachith, who drowned, was a student of Bachpan Playschool, in Malkajgiri area under Medchal district.
The incident came to light when the three-year-old's mother came to pick him from the school but couldn't find him. It was only then when the school staff got alerted and started searching the kid.
A few minutes later a school employee saw a school bag floating in the sump. He alerted other staff members and the school management informed the police. The body of Shiva Rachit was then recovered from the sump.
Education Officer of the Makajgiri said the tragic incident occurred due to the negligence of the staff.
The officer assured strict action against the school administration.
Meanwhile, the Police on Wednesday arrested the principal, counsellor and security incharge of the play school.
A case was on Tuesday registered under Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the IPC.
Rachit's parents, relatives and a large number of people had gathered at the school and protested, blaming the school for negligence. They demanded immediate action against the management.
