SC dismisses Sasikala Pushpa's plea seeking CBI inquiry into Jayalalithaa's death

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed expelled AIADMK MP Sasikala Pushpa's plea seeking CBI inquiry into late Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa's death.

Pushpa had filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court earlier on Sunday urging the apex court to order for Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the `mysterious and suspicious` death of J Jayalalithaa.

The four-time CM was admitted to Apollo hospital on September 22 with fever and dehydration. She died at the private hospital on December 5 after battling for life for 75 days.

Lakhs of grieving men and women bid a tearful adieu to J Jayalalithaa, the charismatic Chief Minister who held sway over Tamil Nadu politics for more than three decades with a pro-poor image, as the AIADMK supremo was buried here with full state honours.

Pushpa had announced that she would contest for the party's top post of general secretary which fell vacant following the death of former chief minister and AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa.

Several party officials had pleaded with Jayalalithaa's close aide VK Sasikala to take over as the party's general secretary which was opposed by Pushpa.
