Caught on camera: Cop slaps woman during anti-liquor protest in Tamil Nadu - Watch viral video

Shamalpuram: Sparking a major controversy, a senior police official 'slapped' a woman protester during a crackdown on an anti-liquor agitation in Tirupur district.

The act has been caught on camera and has come in for strong condemnation.

As per Deccan Herald, the incident occurred on Tuesday evening in Shamalpuram.

This was when a group of people, including women, blocked a road demanding closure of state-owned TASMAC liquor outlet.

In order to disperse the protestors, additional deputy SP Pandiarajan slapped one of the women and pushed two others, the report said.

Things became worse and the agitators allegedly pelted stones at the police. The police then had to lathicharge to disperse them.
