'25% of debt-ridden sugar mills unlikely to operate next year'
Sugar industry apex body ISMA today said that about 25 per cent of over 500 mills in the country may not be in a position to start crushing operations next marketing year starting October 2015 due to huge debt and banks' reluctance to provide fresh loan.

3 out of 10 in India are poor: Rangarajan panel
A panel headed by former PMEAC Chairman C Rangarajan has dismissed the Tendulkar Committee report on estimating poverty and said that the number of poor in India was much higher in 2011-12 at 29.5 percent of the population, which means that three out of 10 persons are poor.
