New Delhi: Shuttler PV Sindhu made fans all across India with her performances at the Rio Olympics, but now a stat proves how millions of people had their eyes on her.

The shuttler's women's singles final match against Spain's Carolina Marin at the Rio Olympics bagged as many as 66.5 million viewers in India.

This is the highest viewership in India for a single match this Olympiads, outnumbering even the ultra-popular Kapil Sharma Show, which gathers 50 million views on an average.

The 21-year-old badminton player even made a loyal fan following in such a short span of time - 57.4 per cent of people who watched her in the semis came back to watch her at the finals.

Mumbai and Hyderabad were the highest contributers towards the viewership.

As per the media research firm Zapr, top 10 sports events (basis sum of normalised impressions across 30 min) were - athletics with 63.3 million impressions, Women's Badminton (India vs Spain Final) 54.4 million impressions, badminton 22.3 million impressions and wrestling with 15.3 million impressions.
