New Delhi: The 103rd edition of Tour de France starts Saturday with close to 200 riders from as many as 22 teams fighting for the ultimate prize in cycling.

Starting from Mont-Saint-Michel, in France's northwestern coast, the world’s greatest bicycle race will witness legends like Chris Froome, Nairo Quintana, Alberto Contador, Vincenzo Nibali, etc.

The stage one will finish at Utah Beach, one of the four D-Day landing beaches in Normandy that saw the seaborne invasion of the Allied forces in 1944.

They will ride and plan their strategies along with team-mates as the famed 'peleton' moves from one stage to another until the winner is crowned in the 21st stage on July 24 at Champs-Elysees boulevard in Paris.

Briton Froome, the defending champion, will hope to get into the act from the very first day by capturing the yellow jersey, or maillot jaune ahead of grueling classifications that follow during the course of the race.

The 2016 edition will feature some of Europe's highest mountains and most spectacular coastal stretches, covering France and it's neighbours Switzerland, Andorra and Spain.
