New Delhi: Indian wrestling star the Great Khali has dubbed PM Narendra Modi's decision to scrap-off Rs. 1000 and Rs. 500 currency as a step which is good for the country.
The wrestler, named Dalip Singh Rana in real life, recently met the Indian Prime Minister and congratulated him for the decision.
On the reported inconvenience faced by people, Khali was quoted saying by India TV, "suppose we stop eating eggs and chicken for a few days, we will not die."

New Agency PTI also quoted the wrestler saying, "He (Modi) has taken this decision in the interest of the country. I wanted to congratulate him. I told him that it is good for the country though there are some difficulties being faced by the people. But it is temporary and it will help the country in the long run."
RBI Governor Urjit Patel earlier urged people to start utilizing their debit cards and digital wallets more and more as it will make transactions cheaper and easier. The dependence on cash would also get reduced and pressure on banks would also be released in the process.
