Dhanraj Pillay thanks PM Narendra Modi for helping legendary Mohammad Shahid

New Delhi: Former India captain Dhanraj Pillay thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday for providing financial help to legendary hockey figure Mohammad Shahid.
"I thank the honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, Sports Minister Shri Jitendra Singh ji, Indian Railways and Railways Minister Shri Suresh Prabhu ji and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Akhilesh Yadav ji for their prompt support and assistance to Shahid bhai's treatment," Pillay said in a letter.
Few days back, Pillay had appealed to the PM along with other ministries, citing help for the treatment of the ailing Arjuna award winner, who has been suffering from chronic liver and kidney problems.
Railway Ministry immediately responded to the appeal and took care of all expenses incurred on his treatment and the Sports Ministry announced Rs 10 lakh for overhead expenses.
Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav also took interest in the matter and sanctioned Rs five lakh for the ailing Olympic gold medallist.
