Despite being one of the most dominating outfits in world football, Germany are yet to beat Italy in a major tournament.

That stat would be in the minds of Joachim Loew and his men, who have lost all their eight meetings against Azzurri, excluding friendlies.

While the Germans eased past Slovakia with a 3-0 win in the round of 16, the Italians were impressive in knocking out defending champions Spain with a 2-0 victory.

Italy have silenced their critics to quite an extent, after many said it was one of the worst teams to appear in an European Championship.

Germans, despite not conceding a goal so far in the tournament, are still struggling to find the top gear.

The winner of the much-awaited quarter-final match will lock horns with host nation France or surprise package Iceland, who meet on Sunday.
