Euro 2016 Final: Cristiano Ronaldo dedicates triumph to all immigrants

Paris: Portugal beat hosts France 1-0 on Sunday night to win their maiden Euro title. After the win, Portugal's premier player Cristiano Ronaldo dedicated the triumph to all immigrants.

"It was not the final I wanted but I am very happy. It is a trophy for all Portuguese, for all immigrants, all the people who believed in us so I am very happy and very proud," said Ronaldo, who watched crucial part of the match from the sidelines after being stretchered off in tears in the first half.

Substitute Eder emerged as a new star for Portugal as he thundered out-of-the-blue shot to give his country a shock win over France in the final of the mega event.

Eder came on in the 79th minute and struck the winner with a venomous long-range strike in the 109th minute.

Interestingly, after the match, Eder disclosed that Ronaldo told him that he would score the winner.

"He (Ronaldo) told me I would score the winning goal for the team. He gave me this strength, this energy and it was vital. It was a goal I`ve been working for from the first minute of the Euros.

For all the work we did, for all of the Portuguese, it`s fantastic. It`s well deserved and we should all be congratulated," the striker told O Jogo.
