Manchester United show Louis van Gaal the door with Jose Mourinho set to arrive at Old Trafford: Report

New Delhi: Premier League giants Manchester United on Monday sacked Louis van Gaal less than 48 hours after winning the FA Cup.

According to several media reports, the Dutchman's coaching staff - Albert Stuivenberg and and goalkeeper coach Frans Hoek - are set to follow him.

At the moment, there remains a doubt on the future of assistant manager and club legend Ryan Giggs.

There was a meeting between the 64-year-old manager and club vice chairman Ed Woodward in the morning.

United's management are expected to meet Jose Mourinho, Silvino Louro and Rui Faria on Tuesday to finalize the Portuguese manager's move to Old Trafford.

Van Gaal will pocket around £5m for being sacked with one year left on his contract.

He will also receive a £400k bonus for steering United to their 12th FA Cup with a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace.
