New Delhi: European heavyweights Manchester United and Real Madrid might emerged as the favourite destinations for out of work Jose Mourinho, but the Portuguese has reportedly expressed his desire to coach the English team.
British media on Sunday ran series of stories claiming that the former Chelsea manager is indeed open to take over from Roy Hodgson after Euro 2016.
The Mirror stated that Mourinho has told his agent, Jorge Mendes, that he would be keen to take charge of England and sees the new generation of talent coming through like Ross Barkly, Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling as a platform for success.
Hodgson's England contract expires after the European Championship and so far there has been no talk of an extension for the 70-year-old.
However, despite the suggestions, Mourinho still remains one of a club manager, never having an experience to manage a national team.
In between, Louis van Gaal's future at Old Trafford becomes even more confusing with the Dutchman reportedly failing to attend the training session ahead of Monday's Chelsea clash.
