Zaheer Abbas hails concept of day-night Tests

New Delhi: A day after former Indian cricketer Atul Wassan criticised the idea of experimenting with the pink ball and the day and night Test, former Pakistan batsman Zaheer Abbas hailed the concept and sees the idea as "thoroughly enlightened".

Abbas, who is also president of the International Cricket Council (ICC), wrote in his column for ICC website: "The sceptics and critics might call it a leap in the dark but I prefer to view the decision to play day-night Test cricket -– a concept set to become reality when Australia plays New Zealand in Adelaide -– as thoroughly enlightened."

The maiden day-night Test is scheduled to start from November 27 in Adelaide Oval.

In the historic event the pink Kookaburra ball will be used under lights.

Fans are the major reason behind the move, so that more spectators will be able to attend matches in stadiums after office.

It will be an all new experience for not only the cricketers but also for the games' fans.
