WATCH: Extremely touching moment in commentary box you didn't see during WorldT20 final
Calling the winning runs of a thrilling World Cup match is considered one of the highlights in the career of a sports broadcaster.
New Delhi: During the recently concluded WT20, fans witnessed plenty of entertainment and banter thanks to experts in the commentary box.
Most notable of the lot were Shoaib Akhtar and Virender Sehwag, as the duo traded verbal volleys right through the tournament.
However, there was another touching moment during the tournament that most fans didn't get to see.
This happened in the dying moments of the England-West Indies final, as Carlos Brathwaite clobbered six after six off Ben Stokes' bowling.
In the commentary box were Ian Bishop and David Lloyd. As Stokes ran in to bowl the fourth ball, Lloyd signalled to Bishop to call the winning runs and took a back seat.
For commentators, such moments mean a lot. Calling the winning runs of a thrilling World Cup match is considered one of the highlights in the career of a sports broadcaster.
At such a moment, Lloyd's selfless act to allow the former Windies pacer to do his thing was truly special.
“CARLOS Brathwaite! Carlos Brathwaite! Remember the name!” - were the words uttered by Bishop as he called it in the most classic manner.
@PeterDellaPenna and here @BumbleCricket was the lead. Yet he allowed @irbishi to call the final ball himself. Best bit of commentary ever! — Hemant (@hemantbuch) April 4, 2016
@hemantbuch @PeterDellaPenna It's nt something I wanted bt what @BumbleCricket did 4 that last period was Selfless & an example to me 4ever. — ian bishop (@irbishi) April 4, 2016
.@irbishi @BumbleCricket Good call from Bumble. But, Bish, you reap as you sow. Will never forget how you let me do the @sachin_rt farewell. — Harsha Bhogle (@bhogleharsha) April 5, 2016
