Vizag cricketer attempts longest individual net session of 82 hours

New Delhi: Pune-based amateur cricketer Virag Mare in December 2015 entered the record books after he batted for a net session lasting 50 hours.

Now Vizag's Nagaraju Budumuru is attempting something similar by trying to bat for 82 hours.

According to a report by Deccan Chronicle, 23-year-old's session commenced on Thursday morning and is scheduled to get over on Sunday evening.

Budumuru is facing balls from bowling machines and actual bowlers at the A.S. Raja College Ground, MVP Colony, Vishakhapatnam.

Budumuru is taking a 20-minute break after every five-hour session. In order to achieve what he has set out to, the youngster will face almost 25,000 deliveries.

“I want to see my name in the Guinness Record, Limca Book of Records, World Records Academy International, Wonder Book of Records International, Genius Book of Records and Asia Book of Records in the longest individual net session of 82 hours,” Nagaruju said.

The current record holder, Mare, had faced 2,447 overs (14,682 balls) in exactly 50 hours, 5 minutes and 51 seconds.

At the time, he broke the previous record set by English duo Dave Newman and Richard Wells.
