New Delhi: Vikas Kohli, Virat's brother on Friday, said they would consult the right people and decide whether to approach the Pakistan government to release the cricketer's jailed superfan.

According to a report in the Deccan Chronicle, Vikas will speak to Virat regarding the matter to help exonerate his die-hard fan.

"Yes, we have heard about this incident and feel sorry for the fan,” said Vikas.

"I shall certainly seek Virat's views after the match on Friday. We will also consult the right people and decide whether to approach the Pakistan government,” he added.

Umar Draz, a resident of Okara city in Pakistan, was sent to jail for hoisting the Indian flag on his house-roof.

The Kohli family is currently attending a family function, while Virat is playing in Australia.

"We are in a family function today and can't think of the right people to be identified for this appeal at this moment but will surely speak to Virat,” Vikas added.

The incident of the arrest occurred on January 26 after Kohli scored an unbeaten 90 to lead India to a win in the 1st T20I.

Upon raiding Draz's home, police found several posters of the India's Test skipper.
