UNindian: Brett Lee movie runs into trouble with censor board demanding tone down version of love scene

New Delhi: Former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee starrer UNindian received red flag from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

According to reports, the Examining Committee (EC) of the Indian censor board has asked the makers of the film to tone down a love scene with Tannishtha Chatterjee.

"Remove the sideways visual and end climatic shot. The sex scene not to be synchronised with the mantra chanting," timesofindia.indiatimes.com reported quoting a committee suggestion to the film's director Anupam Sharma.

If the makers of the film heed to the directive the one-minute-eight-seconds love scene will become a 26-seconds scene.

"The love scene runs simultaneously with a sermon scene where followers chant 'Om Shreem Hreem' which are spiritual chants and not religious. I'm a practising Hindu myself so there is no way I would offend anyone's sentiments," Sharma reacted.

"Speaking of the side profile, the actors are bareback in the scene. It's been shot aesthetically. Much more is shown on Indian television and item songs," he added, defending the scene in UNindian.

UNindian is slated to be released on 19 August.

The movie is said to be a cross cultural romantic comedy, with the story revolving around the relationship between divorcee and single mother, Meera played by Tannishtha, and an unresistable Aussie block Will, played by Lee.
