Umar Akmal: Continuous unnecessary issues sees Pakistan cricketer in bad light

New Delhi: Just days after misbehaving with a domestic team coach Pakistan batsman Umar Akmal is once again in the news for wrong reasons.

Akmal was slapped with a one-match ban for violating the ICC's dress code during the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy final in Karachi last week while playing for Sui Northern Gas.

Interestingly in that very game he had misbehaved with the team's coach.

Akmal is repeatedly creating problems for himself and Pakistan cricket. Just when he needs to emphasize and get consistent performances, he is letting himself down with his attitude. He has been criticised by national team coach Waqar Younis.

Earlier, according to a report in The Indian Express, Akmal misbehaved with his domestic team coach Basit Ali in the final of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy at the National Stadium in Karachi.

Reports had claimed that Akmal had also used abusive language in the dressing room when he was demoted in the batting order.

“Umar asked Basit why he was being sent down the order and then misbehaved and abused him in the dressing room in front of other players and officials,” The Indian Express reported.

Recently, Umar had also escaped a ban after a police report cleared him of attending a dance party in Hyderabad, Pakistan, when he was playing a match there for Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd (SNGPL).

Earlier in November 2015, the Pakistani batsman was dropped by the PCB on disciplinary issues for the T20 series against England. Akmal was dropped on the instructions of Pakistan Cricket Board as he had been issued with a show cause notice for bringing PCB and Pakistan cricket into disrepute.

Pakistan play New Zealand in a T20 tourney prior to a five-match ODI series. Akmal will miss the first T20 game.
