New Delhi: Former Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar stated that he and his friends nearly had a near-death experience while crossing railway tracks in order to go to the platform as a child.
Tendulkar said that while crossing the tracks they realised the trains were coming as they ended up crouching on their knees with the kits.
"While crossing the tracks, halfway, we realised that trains were coming fast on all the tracks. We ended up crouching on our knees in between the tracks with our kits. That was a scary experience and then onwards we never crossed train tracks."
The master-blaster had this scary experience during his school days in Mumbai.
Tendulkar earlier recalled the entire incident which led to the crossing of tracks. He stated that after practicing cricket and eating lunch at a friend's place, they had decided to go for a movie. After the show they decided to cross the railway tracks in order to go to the platform to reach the practice ground.
"In school, I had gone to Vile Parle to a friend's place. We -- five or six boys -- had practiced in the morning and had gone to his place for lunch. Then we decided to watch a movie. After watching the movie, we got late for practice and hence we decided to cross railway tracks and go to the platform, and board the train at Dadar," he stated.
Tendulkar urged all rail commuters not to sit on train roofs and to avoid travel if the train is crowded.
