New Delhi: Former Indian spinner Venkatapathi Raju heaped praise on top-ranked Test bowler Ravichandran Ashwin on Sunday as he felt that the offie adapted himself in all three formats of the game.
"He (R Ashwin) has got fantastic variations and he adapts himself in three formats of the game which is difficult,” Raju told PTI.
Former Indian tweaker, who is happy with the fact that spinners are winning more man-of-the series awards nowadays, went on to say that Ashwin would be any captain's delight.
“We had Anil Kumble, Harbhajan Singh and lot of spinners who were strike bowlers and now I think he (Ashwin) is our main strike bowler. Any captain will be more than happy to have him (in the side)," added Raju.
The Chennai spinner ended 2015 on a high note by finishing as the top Test bowler in the ICC rankings after a strong showing against South Africa in the Freedom series.
Ashwin took 62 wickets in nine Tests in 2015, including 31 scalps in the four matches against the Proteas.
