Ram Slam match-fixing scandal: Alviro Petersen confirms reporting suspect approaches

New Delhi: Alviro Petersen on Friday became the first South African cricketer to confirm that he had alerted authorities about match-fixing approaches during the Ram Slam T20 tournament.

Taking to Twitter, Petersen responded to a piece in Wisden India that claimed he was being questioned by the investigating agencies.

However, SACA's CEO CEO Tony Irish refused to comment on Petersen's remarks. "We have full confidence in David Becker to run a thorough investigation,” he told ESPNCricinfo.

Earlier this year, Gulam Bodi was banned for 20 years after admitting that he tried to fix matches in the country's domestic T20 tournament.

ESNPNCricinfo also claims that at least three South Africa international cricketers are among those who have been questioned along with several franchise players. Many of them are believed to have rejected Bodi's offer to fix matches but are guilty of failing to report those approaches.
