New Delhi: At times, it looks like the Indian Premier League (IPL) is specially staged to showcase the brilliance of Virat Kohli.
At closer look, though, the same can also be said about recent ICC sanctioned tournaments like the Asia Cup and the Twenty20 World Cup.
The 27-year-old is unstoppable, and is on the verge of creating many more batting records. What makes him such a potent force today, is, due to right progression, and even better conversion — the two facets which rule cricket.
For instance, until the start of IPL 9, this season, the Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper was without a Twenty20 century. And after 13 innings, he has four of them.
Talking about those hundreds, his first ton, against Gujarat Lions took 63 balls; the second one against Rising Pune Supergiants took 56 balls; then the third one against Lions again took 53.
The fourth one, against Kings XI Punjab, took 47 balls.
Then, what about his conversion?
In 2016, Kohli has 11 scores of 75 or more in T20s. A record! The India Test captain has also converted 11 of his 16 50-plus scores into scores of 75 or more this year in just 25 innings.
If he continues to progress, and keeps converting at this rate, he will have his own almanac cricketing records very soon.
