New Delhi: Star performer of the India-South Africa Test series Ravichandran Ashwin on Monday dedicated his Man of the Series award to Chennai residents that are suffering due to the devastating floods.
The off-spinner, who bagged 31 wickets in the series, forgot to mention the same during the presentation ceremony.
However, Ashwin made amends soon after as he took to Twitter to remember those suffering in his city. Ashwin also stated that he would like to help in the relief work when he gets to Chennai.
But he clarified that he would like to work individually and not in association with any organisation.
Happiness got the better of me,I would like to dedicate my man of the series to the ppl suffering from the Chennai floods.

I would also like to add that I am not going to do anything joining hands with anyone,I would go down personally and do what I like.

Ajinkya Rahane too dedicated his Man of the Match award to people of the Tamil Nadu capital as well as the Indian Army personnel who have worked tirelessly in relief work.
While Ashwin was batting in the first innings, his wife Prithi posted a tweet stating they hadn't heard from his parents for over 24 hours.
However, after an hour she confirmed that they were safe. One wonders what mindset the off-spinner was in when he went out to bat.
Importantly, Ashwin made sure personal issues didn't affect him on the pitch as he put on 98 runs with Rahane for the eighth wicket.
