BCCI unlikely to take action in Sudhir Naik-Ravi Shastri row: Report

New Delhi: Ravi Shastri is likely to escape any punishment from the BCCI for an alleged spat with Wankhede curator Sudhir Naik.

MCA had asked its vice-president and former skipper Dilip Vengsarkar to enquire into the issue that occurred after the duo.

Naik, also a former Test cricketer, had alleged in a letter written to the MCA that Shastri abused him after South Africa piled on a record-high score of 438 on a perfect batting track in the series deciding ODI game.

Naik had also claimed Indian team's bowling coach Bharat Arun had fired his assistant Ramesh Mhamunkar, though he had no right to do so. He had demanded that MCA reprimand both Shastri and Arun for their actions.

“Everybody prepares pitches that suit the home team and in a series decider, they shouldn’t have got a flat pitch like this. It should have been an even contest and because this game had so much to play for, they might have passed the odd comment. If they don’t ask us for help, then who would they ask?” a board member told New Indian Express.
