Always regarded as one of India's greatest ever pace bowlers, Zaheer took the retirement call as he felt that he was not fit enough to deal with the rigours of the modern game.
He announced the retirement on October 15.
Zaheer made his ODI debut on October 3, 2000 vs Kenya at Nairobi and scalped 282 wickets in 200 ODIs.
He also picked 311 wickets in 92 Tests to become India's fourth highest wicket-taker overall.
