ICC World Twenty20 hero Carlos Brathwaite becomes West Indies captain

New Delhi: West Indies on Tuesday named their ICC World Twenty20 hero Carlos Brathwaite as the new captain of the shortest format of the game.

Brathwaite replaced controversially sacked Darren Sammy. The 28-year-old all-rounder will have his first assignment as the captain of the Caribbean team later this month, when West Indies play India in a two-match Twenty20 international series at Fort Lauderdale in Florida.

The new captain memorably smashed four sixes in the final over against England to win this year`s World T20 final in Mumbai.
