World T20: Australia will have to play better, says skipper Steve Smith

New Delhi: Australian cricket team skipper Steve Smith has acknowledged that his side needs to play better in these conditions after beating Bangladesh in their World Twenty20 clash in Bangalore on Monday.

After losing the first encounter against New Zealand, the Aussies have got back in track and play sub-continent kings India and Pakistan in their remaining Super 10 Group 2 matches.

Smith's side played the first game in Dharamsala and then had to travel to Bangalore for the tie against Bangladesh.

Smith cited the traveling aspect but says it isn't an excuse before saying his players need to adapt better in these conditions.

"We haven`t been good enough in the middle overs. We`ve had a bit of travel, but it`s not an excuse. Pakistan and India play well in these conditions and we have to do better. Our players have to adapt better (to different grounds)," he said.

On Monday, opener Usman Khawaja hit a quick-fire half-century as Australia successfully chased down Bangladesh`s total of 156 for five.

Australia need to defeat Pakistan on Friday, for hoping to have a chance for qualification.

Meanwhile, leg-spinner Adam Zampa, who took three wickets, his first in T20 internationals, said the side had been disappointed to lose to New Zealand.

"The equation for us is pretty simple now, win every game," Zampa said.

Bangladesh, demolished by Pakistan in their first group match, are now unlikely to qualify for the semi-finals. They are sitting at the bottom of their group with two matches left to play.

Skipper Mashrafe Mortaza stated that the side's bowling and fielding could have been better.

"Two losses in a row, but we have two matches left and we`ll see what happens. Our fielding and bowling could have been better," said.

Bangladesh next face India in their group encounter.
