New Delhi: Just like AB de Villiers, Chris Gayle too is a much-loved man in India.

The big-hitting Jamaican is cheered on by the Bengaluru crowd just like any Indian batsman is during the IPL.

Hence, the M Chinnaswamy Stadium spectators were on Sunday deeply disappointed when they were deprived of Gayle force against Sri Lanka.

Constant chants of “we want Gayle” were heard during the West Indian innings, as the left-hander was watching the proceedings from the dressing room.

Gayle tweaked his hamstring while fielding during Sri Lanka’s innings and hence did not come out to bat in his usual opening position.

With the crowd getting restless, Gayle walked out to bat when Denesh Ramdin was dismissed in the 13th over.

However, fourth umpire Ian Gould stepped in and reminded him that he needed to wait for some more time due to his absence in the field during the firs half of the match.

Gould signaled “two more minutes” to the Windies bench and dragged Gayle off the field in a joking manner.

When the match was over, Gayle came back out on the field to thank the crowd for their support.
