Deepak Shodhan – India's oldest Test cricketer passes away at 87

New Delhi: Deepak Shodhan, who was the first Indian cricketer to score a century on Test debut, passed away at his Ahmedabad home on Monday.

The 87-year-old, who was suffering from lung cancer, was India's oldest surviving Test cricketer.

Playing his first Test against Pakistan in 1952, Shodhan immediately made headlines as he slammed 110 runs on debut.

Shodhan played three Tests, scored 181 runs, ave. 60.33 and 43 first-class matches and scored 1802 runs (HS 261, 4x100) and took 73 wickets bowling left-arm spin.

Much to the shock of many fans, he did not play more than three Tests.
