Chris Gayle's sexist remark: Shane Watson feels Jamaican crossed the line
Aussie is not surprised by Gayle's behaviour as he stated that it was "fairly expected".
New Delhi: Australian all-rounder Shane Watson, who has played a lot of cricket against Chris Gayle, feels that the Jamaican crossed the line with his remark made to Channel 10 reporter Mel McLaughlin.
"There is no doubt people have always loved coming along and watching him (Gayle) play because of the entertainment he can certainly provide. But there is always a line outside the game of cricket
as well,” Watson was quoted as saying by Daily Telegraph.
"In the end the people love the entertainment part of cricket, but there's also a respect, that part of playing the game on and off the field in the right spirit.” said the all-rounder.
However, at the same time veteran Aussie is not surprised by Gayle's behaviour as he stated that the controversial remarks made by the West Indian batsman during an interview with a female presenter were "fairly expected".
"I have played against Chris for a long time, since I started really, and that behaviour is fairly expected," added Watson.
Gayle invited controversy after he made a series of inappropriate remarks to a TV reporter McLaughlin during his sides' win over the Hobart Hurricanes on Monday.
