New Delhi: Premier Australian pacer Mitchell Starc, who has been ruled out of the series against India due to an injury, showed confidence on younger crop of fast bowlers, who will be part of the five-match ODI series.
Australia have picked uncapped bowlers in Scott Boland and Joel Paris along with Kane Richardson in the squad, who are expected to bowl under the assistance of Josh Hazlewood and James Faulkner.
Starc feels that the younger bowlers have a good chance to showcase their talent and cement their spots in the national team during the forthcoming series.
"They've been bowling really well in state cricket for a number of years now and it's a huge opportunity to get their foot in the door. It's a chance for them to try to cement a spot with a few injuries and a bit of a changing time in the bowling stocks," Starc was quoted as saying bycricket.com.au.
Coming from the back of good shows in Big Bash League, Paris and Richardson would be beaming with confidence.
Starc praised the duo as he stated that they would do a great job for Australia in the next few months.
"The Big Bash has been fantastic. We've seen some of the young guys like Joel (Paris) come through and bowl really well. Kane Richardson has bowled really well at the death. I'm excited to see what he's going to bring to ODI cricket on his return. Jason Behrendorff has come back from injury, started really well in the Big Bash. There's a few guys around that level at the moment and will do a great job for Australia in the next few months."
