Australians have taken 1725 matches and 21460 innings to complete the milestone. And these centuries have been scored by 489 players in a span of 1877-2015.

New Delhi: Australia on Saturday became the first team to score 1000 International centuries when Joe Burns and Usman Khawaja notched up their respective hundreds against West Indies on the first day of Boxing Day Test at Melbourne.

The Aussies reached their hundreds two balls apart, in the 58th over bowled by Jomel Warrican, Burns reached his second hundred with a three off the very first delivery of the over. Two balls later, Khawaja took a single to continue his superb run - three three hundreds in three consecutive Tests, and also a Big Bash ton in between.

Australians have taken 1725 matches and 21460 innings to complete the milestone. And these centuries have been scored by 489 players in a span of 1877-2015.

England, the team which completes crickets traditional rivalry in the Ashes, has 964 centuries so far from 1704 matches and 23153 innings. A total of 715 Englishmen have scored these centuries in the same span.

India are third on the list with 688 tons, scored by 339 players starting from 1932. Indians have played 1443 matches (and 16426 innings) to hit these centuries.

West Indies (629), Pakistan (543), South Africa (501) complete the list with 500 or more hundreds.

Sri Lanka (393), New Zealand (377) and Zimbabwe (107) are the teams to have thre figure tons.

Bangladesh are in the tenth position with 77 hundreds.
