Gita Jayanti special: Celebrate the birth of Srimad Bhagavad Gita

Mumbai: The combination of historical battles with spirituality is very rare but equally enlightening. Bhagavad Gita or the Song of the Lord is one such sacred scripture wherein the epic battle of Mahabharata is narrated with underlining morals and ethics.

Srimad Bhagavad Gita, 700-verse text, is profoundly referred to by the followers of Sanatana Dharma. The moral philosophy of following righteous or Dharama is imparted by Sri Krishna to his disciple Arjuna on the battlefield of Kuruksetra.

Every year Gita Jayanti, which marks the birth of the Holy book written by Vyasa, falls on the 11th day of Shukla Paksha Ekadashi of Margashirsh month as per traditional Hindu calendar. This year Gita Jayanti falls on 10th December.

Followers of Lord Krishna all over the world celebrate this day by keeping a fast and reading the Bhagavad Gita to revisit the spiritual knowledge.
Temples of Lord Krishna across the country celebrate this day on a grand scale by conducting pujas along with special prayers.

Devotees from all over India visit Kurukshetra, Haryana to take a holy bath in sacred ponds. By recalling the teachings of ancient text, devotees apply them in their daily lives to lead a path of truth, courage and righteousness.
