Space X successfully lands Falcon 9 rocket on a drone ship

New Delhi: It was Space X's sixth success in a row. The aerospace company successfully landed its Falcon 9 rocket on a floating drone ship at Atlantic Ocean on Sunday morning.

Falcon 9 rocket was recovered after the launch of a Japanese communications satellites into orbit 20,000 miles above the Earth. This was company's eighth launch of its reusable rocket this year.

According to Business Insider, this marks the sixth time SpaceX has successfully landed a rocket, and the fourth time it did it in the ocean. The Sunday's mission was one of the most challenging and significant event because it means that the company has now landed more rockets than it has crashed.

Falcon 9 landing was an extremely challenging task, according to Space X. The Falcon 9 rocket's main goal was to carry the onboard satellite called JCSAT-16 into the geostationary transfer orbit (GTO).

The GTO is a highly elliptical orbit that will take the JCSAT-16 about 36,000 kilometers or 22,300 miles out beyond the surface of Earth.Getting to the GTO would entail the use of greater speed and more fuel than before, more so than getting to the lower Earth orbit.

This makes the rocket landing extremely difficult, because the rocket will experience extreme re-entry heating at high velocities during its descent to Earth, SpaceX added. The company is hoping to revolutionize the launch industry by making rocket components reusable.
