New Delhi: This image from NASA's Aqua satellite shows smoke from California's Soberanes Fire, which started from an illegal campfire.

This natural-color satellite image was taken by the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) instrument that flies aboard NASA-NOAA's Suomi NPP satellite, says NASA. VIIRS imagery identified smoke on August 8 at 5:40 p.m. EDT, outlining actively burning areas in red.

As per Inciweb, an interagency all-risk incident information management system that coordinates with federal, state and local agencies to manage wildfires, the Soberanes Fire had covered 60,900 acres as of August 8, 2016.

The fire, which started two weeks ago, is 50 percent contained of as Tuesday morning.
