Severe cold wave conditions sweeping the mid- and higher-hills of Himachal Pradesh further intensified with minimum temperatures dropping by a few notches in many places.

The mercury plummeted following overnight rain and snow, and Keylong and Kalpa in tribal Lahaul and Spiti and Kinnaur districts recorded minimum temperatures at minus 5.5 and minus 3.0 degree Celsius.

The famous tourist resort of Manali, being thronged by thousands of tourists after snowfall at Solang Nallah and the Rohtang Pass, shivered at minus 0.6 degree Celsius. The mercury dipped to 4 degrees Celsius in Bhuntar, followed by 4.5 in Solan, 5.0 in Sundernagar and 5.5 in Shimla.

According to the MeT department, the minimum temperatures were two to three degrees Celsius below normal.

Palampur and Una recorded a low of 6.5 and 6.6 degrees Celsius, followed by Dharamsala 8.0 and Nahan 9.6 degrees Celsius.

Kalpa in Kinnaur district received 22 cm of snow since last evening, followed by Gondla 5 cm, while Manali had 11-mm rainfaill, followed by Kothi 9-mm.

Keylong was the coldest place in the state during the day with a maximum temperature of 1.6 degrees Celsius, while Kalpa recorded a high of 8.0, followed by Manali 14.0, Shimla 16.4, Dharamsala 16.8, Bhuntar 17.8, Palampur 18.0, Nahan 19.0, Sundernagar 20.4, Solan 21.0 and Una 23.3 degrees Celsius.

The local MeT office has predicted dry weather in the state for next six days up to November 26.
