AAP harbouring criminals, militants in Punjab: BJP

Chandigarh: Punjab unit of BJP today slammed the Aam Aadmi Party for allegedly harbouring criminals and militants in the state in the wake of recent arrest of the mastermind behind the Nabha jailbreak.

Taking exception to the recent arrest of Nabha jailbreak mastermind Gurpreet Singh Sekhon allegedly from an AAP activist's house, state BJP president Vijay Sampla said, "The Aam Aadmi Party is sheltering criminals and militants in Punjab. This is evident from the arrest of Gurpreet Singh Sekhon from NRI Goldy Gill's house in Moga".

Gill campaigned for AAP during the Punjab Assembly polls and was present in many rallies of the party, he said.

When the jailbreak took place, the AAP had accused the SAD-BJP combine of connivance with the criminals, he said.

"Now the BJP would like to ask AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal why is he silent over the arrest of Sekhon from his party worker's house? Shouldn't we consider him to be hand in gloves with the criminals?" he said.

Coming down heavily on AAP, Sampla said, "This is not the very first instance which exposes AAP's radical mindset. Earlier, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal stayed in the house of Khalistan Liberation Front (KLF) activist Gurwinder Singh during his Punjab visit," he said.

Sampla said, "Not only this, AAP even fielded candidates with a dubious, terrorist background. The party's candidate from Talwandi Sabo, Baljinder Kaur is a hardliner whose uncle Pala Singh was a prominent militant leader and was shot down in a police encounter".

He said AAP simply wants to disrupt law and order situation in the state which is encouraging criminals and radicals to further its agenda.

The anarchy Kejriwal is trying to spread is unacceptable and will not be tolerated by the people of Punjab, he said.
