Hokkaido Beach is a unique beach located in the west of Japan. It stretches from the eastern Kyogamisaki Cape, Kyoto, to the western Hakuto Kaigan Coast, Tottori.

The beach is located at San’in Kaigan Geopark, which was declared a Japanese Geopark in 2008 and a UNESCO Global Geopark in 2010.

San’in Kaigan Geopark also serves as home to rare plants like Pseudolysimachion ornatum, Ciconia boyciana, and Ranunculus nipponicus.

San’in Kaigan Geopark covers three cities, towns, and prefectures with a population of about 400,000.

This geopark is dotted with a diversity of geological sites that are related to the formation of the Sea of Japan.

The beach is highly popular among people for its striking contrast of dunes covered by snow against the sea.

During the winter season, blocks of ice, also known as 'jewellery ice,' form in the mouth of the Tokachi River and wash up the beach.
