Double whammy for Haiti: Storm ravages country after quake leaves nearly 2,000 dead
The massive earthquake that rocked the small Caribbean nation of Haiti killed nearly 1,941 people leaving the citizens desperate for food, shelter and medical aid. The search and rescue efforts took a back seat as tropical storm 'Grace' battered across the country causing dangerous flooding.

The 7.2 tremblor caused severe damage to several major hospitals which hampered humanitarian efforts, and doctors in makeshift tents outside battled to save the lives of the many injured.

UN allocates $8 million as funds
The United Nations said it had allocated $8 million in emergency funds to provide relief for affected people.
Other nations offer aid
Latin America countries including Venezuela, Chile, Mexico, Panama, Colombia and the neighboring Dominican Republic sent food, medicine and supplies. The United States also dispatched supplies and search and rescue teams.

The series of natural disasters come after the assassination of President Jovenel Moise in July 7.
