Major Indian Cricket Venues Miss Out On Hosting Matches In ODI World Cup 2023 - In Pics

Mohali, located near Chandigarh in Punjab, is known for its state-of-the-art cricket stadium, the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium. Having previously hosted numerous high-profile matches, including the World Cup semi-finals in 1996 and 2011, it came as a surprise that Mohali did not make the cut this time. The stadium's capacity and historical significance make it a popular choice for cricket enthusiasts, but unfortunately, it won't be part of the World Cup action.  

The Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur, Maharashtra, is another prominent cricket venue that missed out on hosting any matches in the ODI World Cup 2023. Known for its excellent infrastructure and past hosting experiences, Nagpur has welcomed many thrilling encounters. However, this time, it will not witness any World Cup action.  

Known for its passionate cricket fans and the Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore is a regular host of international matches. With a capacity of over 30,000 spectators, this venue has witnessed some memorable cricketing moments. Despite having staged an ODI and a Test earlier this year, Indore failed to secure a World Cup fixture this time around.  

Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot, Gujarat, is another notable cricket center that did not receive any matches in the upcoming World Cup. The stadium has witnessed some exciting matches in the past, both international and domestic. However, it will have to wait for another opportunity to showcase its cricketing charm on the grand stage.  

The Jharkhand State Cricket Association International Stadium in Ranchi, the hometown of former Indian captain MS Dhoni, is a cricket ground with immense significance. Known for its electric atmosphere, this venue has hosted many memorable encounters in the past. However, despite its popularity, Ranchi did not find a place in the list of World Cup venues this time.
