Jasprit Bumrah In Danger Of Missing 2025 Champions Trophy: 4 Major Events India Pacer Has Missed Due To Injury

Jasprit Bumrah had incurred back spasms during the Sydney Test against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series earlier this month. He couldn't bowl on the last day of the Sydney Test and India lost the fifth match of the five-match series.

According to an Indian Express report, Jasprit Bumrah, who got injured during the 2024-25 BGT is likely to miss the group stage of next month’s Champions Trophy owing to a swelling on his back. It will be a massive blow for India.

Jasprit Bumrah has been asked to report to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru where his recovery will be monitored. According to reports, Bumrah is expected to be fully fit only by the first week of March.

Selectors are considering whether they should name Bumrah in the squad of 15 or add him to the list of reserve players for the Champions Trophy.

If Jasprit Bumrah indeed misses the upcoming Champions Trophy, it won't be the first major event India pacer would have missed in his career due to an injury. 

After playing the bilateral series at home against Australia after a lengthy injury lay-off, Jasprit Bumrah looked set to play the T20 World Cup Down Under in 2022. But, Bumrah ended up aggravating the injury in the aforementioned series against Australia and was eventually ruled out of the 2022 T20 World Cup.

In Bumrah’s absence, India still managed to reach the semis, but were thrashed by England in the last four clash at the Adelaide Oval.

Jasprit Bumrah missed the 2023 World Test Championship final against Australia due to injury as India lost the summit clash of the ICC event by 209 runs. India badly missed the services of Bumrah in that game.
