IPL 2023: MS Dhoni To Amit Mishra, 5 Cricketers Likely To Play Their Last IPL

IPL 2023 could turn out to be the lasts season for these 5 cricketers. The ten teams are now looking to include young talent and ageing players are not being considered anymore. There is a reason why the likes of Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo retired from IPL but still continue to play other franchise-based T20 leagues around the world. IPL is challenging and you need fitter bodies to cope with it. However, there are exceptions like MS Dhoni, who have been going on and on due their match fitness but even he would want to hang his boots now. In this story, we present you five cricketers who are likely to play their last tournament.

MS Dhoni had told the fans that IPL 2023 is likely be his last. He extended his IPL career, after crossing the 40s, because he wanted to call it quits in front of he home crowd. Chepauk may see their dearest captain play in front of them for the last time. Needless to say, the last home game will be an emotional moment for Dhoni fans. (Image source: Twitter)

Ambati Rayudu will be 38 next year. CSK's strong middle-order batter ony plays IPL. Rayudu scored just 274 runs in 13 games last season at average of just over 24. He struck runs at 122. Rayudu is likely to face the sacking at the end of the season if his bat does not do the talking. At his age, with all teams looking to invest in youth, he might struggle to find a place in the league. (Image source: Twitter)

At 40, Ami Mishra is the second-oldest cricketer in the league. He was ignored at the last year's auction due to his age. But he returns this year as part of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) squad. However, the star IPL and India spinner will turn 41 next year. LSG would want to see his fitness levels throughout IPL 2023 and then take a call on whether they want to retain him or not. If they don't, that would be the end of his IPL career as not many teams will bank on a 41-year-old cricketer to do the job in IPL 2024. (Image source: Twitter)

David Warner

IPL 2023 is very important to David Warner. He has been struggling for runs of late. His place in the World Cup squad is also up for grabs courtesy his continuous flop show. His body is also breaking every now and then. If he has a great IPL, you might see him go to the World Cup. If it doesn't, Warner may want to hang his boots. Whether he continues to play IPL or not also depeneds on the kind of season he is going to have this year.  (Image source: Twitter)

RCB wicketkeeper and batter will turn 38 this year. He had a terrific IPL 2022 and on the back of the performances, he got his place back in the national T20 squad. But with India losing the semi-finals of T20 World Cup, DK lost his place too. He has again been back in the commentary box since then. IPL is the only cricket he plays now and this season will be a test of his match fitness. DK might call it quits altogether if his body can't take the challenge of playing 14 non-stop games. There is a TV broadcast career waiting for him already.  (Image source: Twitter)
