D'Arcy Short was named as the player of the tournament for the 2018-19 edition of the Big Bash League, making it the second consecutive season.Short made his presence felt for the Hurricanes this season accumulating 637 runs in 14 matches, which comprised of six half centuries and a highest score of 96. Not only this, the 28-year-old also made an impact with the ball, picking 10 wickets with his left-arm spin, with his excellent figures of 2-17 against the Perth Scorchers in Launceston marking the best haul. Short was no less impressive during the previous season, smashing 572 runs which further included a record score of 122. Short will be looking to deliver more of the same in the upcoming T20I series against India. Shikhar Dhawan has been a consistent performer for India, over the last few series. His recent form speaks volumes of his capabilities. After ending 2018 as the highest run-getter in T20I's in a calendar year, he has started off 2019 on a good note. The batsman seemed to be in good nick during the recently concluded series against New Zealand. Dhawan further made his presence felt during the away series against Australia, having made his debut in 2010 against the same opposition. That match was played at Vishakhapatnam, which will be hosting the first T20I of the series. Rishabh Pant has emerged as a consistent performer for the Indian team, as evident from his excellent performances during the away series against Australia and New Zealand. Pant emerged as the second highest run-scorer during the Test series with 350 runs in 7 innings at an average of 58.33. He also recorded a sensational knock of 159 in the final Test, emerging as the first Asian wicketkeeper batsman to score a Test ton in Australia. Pant was extremely effective with the gloves as well, taking more than 20 catches during the duration of the series. The 21-year-old cricketer will be looking to build on his recent performances and deliver quality performances on familiar Indian conditions. Yuzvendra Chahal has been in good form recently, as evident from his performances during the away series against Australia and New Zealand. The 28-year-old picked wickets at a consistent rate without leaking many runs, within the limited opportunities afforded to him. Chahal will be looking to ensure more of the same against Australia, following his recent performance at the MCG. The leg-spinner picked six wickets while conceding just 42 runs at the MCG, registering a dominant performance against the hosts. He also became the first spinner to pick six wickets in an ODI in Australia. It will be a tough ask for the Australian batsmen, to pick his variations with Chahal expected to pack quite a punch. Marcus Stoinis, like D'Arcy Short will be high on confidence following an impressive BBL season in the 2018-19 edition of the tournament. Stoinis made his presence felt emerging as the complete all-rounder for the Melbourne Stars. The Stars reached the final on the back of stellar performances by the all-rounder, which is certainly evident from the four consecutive man-of-the-match awards in the kitty. Stoinis emerged as the third highest run-getter in the tournament, scoring 533 runs. Not only this, he also picked 14 wickets with the ball.
