IND vs SA: Five Indian players who could lose their place after Test series
These players will need to have extra-ordinary tour of South Africa for mere survival in the India squad.
Ishant Sharma
India's premier Test pacer could fall behind in race with the likes of Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur making inroads quickly. Ishant had a bad Test series against New Zealand and there have some injury concerns of late. Also, Ishant may not get the chance to play in SA as those are swinging conditions and Siraj, Umesh and Thakur may get a look in. (Source: Twitter)
Umesh Yadav
Umesh Yadav has been warming bench for a long time. Yes, he played against NZ at home but that was because Bumrah and Shami were resting. He might be the one who is sacrificed in the coming few series if he does not perform with the ball. (Source: Twitter)
Ajinkya Rahane
Rahane has been so poor with the bat, he should consider himself lucky to be still there with the team. He has had his starts but his failure to go big as hurt not only his records but India's chances in some crucial games as well. Chances are he may sit out of the three Tests and if he gets a chance, he should grab them with both hands. (Source: Twitter)
Cheteshwar Pujara
India's No 3 is not short on runs but short on big scores. His consistency has been a big problem as well. Pujara has been there for India in some tough situations abroad but it will not be easy for him in swinging conditions of South Africa. (Source: Twitter)
Jayant Yadav
Jayantmay still get dropped from the squad as soon as Ravindra Jadeja enters. The spin department is filled with the likes of R Ashwin and Jadeja and Axar so it may take a lot from him to retain his place in the squad. (Source: Twitter)
